EDF: Hartlepool Power Station Solutions
The Hartlepool Power Station is an industrial unit surrounded by areas designated as Sites of Special Scientific Interest. It has been providing the nation with 2% of its zero carbon electricity needs since 1983 (1.2gig), employing 750 people in an otherwise neglected area. The station has been working with Tees Valley Field Centre for 50 years, promoting ecology in the area, and providing nature walks within the areas natural environments. When tackling climate change, it is essential that our industries are just as on board as our local communities, as we cannot drive the green revolution without the endorsement from those who provide our energy. Discovering greener sources of energy is what will ultimately transform our country from industrial giants to green giants.
